UPDATE 3****
I have noticed a bunch of you people still comment like the Zune is still busted. The issues were resolved long ago. This video is simply for record of this event.
On December 31st, 2008 at approx. 2 AM, all the Zune 30's crashed. This happened regardless of being connected to the internet or not or in any location. This without fail has pissed all of the sixteen people around the world with Zune 30's. No known fix is currently available that even remotely comes close to a fix. Don't pull apart your Zune in frustration. You'll just have to wait for Microsoft to create a fix (if they ever do.)
And trust me when I say that I, and I repeat, have tried every available suggestion and all have failed.
A large Doom cloud looms over us Zune 30 holders...will we be given a fix, or forced to part with our Brick and move on to bigger and "better" Zunes?
UPDATE****
As seen on Zune Forums...
My Zune 30 is frozen. What should I do?
Follow these steps: 1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain—this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.
Once the battery has sufficient power, the player should start normally. No other action is required—you can go back to using your Zune!
There could be hope after all. Not confirmed.
UPDATE 2****
Many have fixed their Zune 30's using MS's solution, but a slew of others still sit with a loading screen or a Blank Screen Of Death or (lol) the BSOD including myself. I ended up getting fed up and used the last resort of wiping the Zune back to Out-Of-The-Box status. This is done by pressing and holding the back button, the left-pad key and the Center (OK) button right before the Zune boot screen appears. This is known as the Hard Reset. Instead of waiting for your entire battery to drain try using the Soft Reset by pressing and holding the back button and the up-pad key. Doing this will reset it. Before it goes back to the boot screen, hold the three button combo (hard reset) from above and it should goto a prompt for clearing data.
This removes all media content and clears the installed firmware. My Zune actually got stuck on the "Clearing Content" screen and froze. I just reset it and it was ready for the firmware to be installed. It worked and I am now putting my tunes back on. Hope this helps!!!
