Cambridge, Mass.-based Diagnostics For All is using the power of paper to create an extremely affordable point-of-care diagnostics tool that can test for everything from liver function to pregnancy. By using regular printing paper, DFA can manufacture a diagnotic tool no larger than a postage stamp that costs 1/300th of cent. The technology is destined for rural areas in developing countries where access to adequate medical facilities is scarce. At the 8th Annual World Health Care Congress in Washington, D.C., Dr. Una Ryan, CEO of Diagnostics For All, explains how tiny microchannels in paper can save millions of lives around the globe.
