@mouchel1995 Well, the Blues and Royals don't seem to have any problem with it.

I live in Lexington and my dad went to VMI :)

The hat is also based of the french "shako" hat

@mdickinson worn correctly they are under your top lip i believe. the mouthpieces don't allow that. check the drumline.

@racerboy12345 Because Bands look best when all participants look the same
-
@mouchel1995 then why do the drummers have it the same way?
-
@lifeonthebeach Being a musician with the British Army, I can assure you this is not the case and I am also fairly sure that you would not say The Band of HM Lifeguards look like idiots.
No, the BEST band in the parade is the UNITED STATES MARINE BAND. End of discussion.

@cascadeelectric Check *YOUR* history. VMI fought as it's own unit in the Battle of New Market in *1864*. Citadel cadets merely participated in battles as parts of other units. If we are to take that into account, VMI fought in every major battle during the war. In fact, it was an honorary VMI Cadet, Edmund Ruffin, who fired the first shot against Fort Sumter. No, Citadel's participation in the War Between the States is no different than its participation in GWOT today. From a distance.
