A great meteor caught by Lior Rubanenko of ILAN Team.

On the night of December 7th 2011, during a sprites and TLEs hunting observation, ILAN Team observer Lior Rubanenko caught this giant bolid fireball meteor. This is a rather exceptional event in its brightness, duration, features of fragmentation and slowness. Considering the brightness and slowness of the meteor, one may speculate it could have even dropped meteorites. The observation was made using a WATEC-902h camera from the rooftop of Kaplun building in Tel Aviv University.

  • @markuslebt

That's true. I think it was a few students who were in a YouTube contest.

    Cheers,

    Shy

  • thx for the invite. couple weeks ago i saw a video of a suposed UFO hovering above the dome of the rock. but they said that it was only a videomontage and not real......

  • @robinsoncrusoe54

    It is not an UFO.

  • @markuslebt

Hi, it's not a Kassam or Grad. They look differently. You're very welcomed to come and visit here :)

  • @Stounage

It entered it and has either disintegrated to dust or landed somewhere (we don't know where).

  • @4842Chuck

    Yes, it is.

  • u shure it was not a kassam or grad ? but they dont fly as far into telaviv. when i return to israel i want to visit the WISE observatory. it has a 1m mirror. i only have a 25cm mirror on my dobson.

  • nice...
