Celebrating Life and Liberty

The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center celebrated its Life & Liberty event on September 13, 2009 at Ellis Island, New York. The event celebrated the lives of our cancer patients who have been treated at the hospital. The event featured presentations by Dr. Andre Goy, Deputy Director of the John Theurer Cancer Center, Robert C. Garrett, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer at Hackensack University Medical Center and Sharon Lee Parker, author of "Look Out Cancer, Here I Come! How I Beat the Odds and Came Out a Winner." There were musical performances by some of our former patients and an acrobatic treat from Le Cirque de la Libertè. The event was so successful that we will now be hosting the celebration every year.
