This is a historical landmark, in the county of Loudoun Virginia, where I was born and raised.
I travelled back to the area, for work, and to visit family; my son and I were nearby, so I dragged him up the driveway, in the hopes of visiting the Mansion. Needless to say, it didn't go as well as I had anticipated. DJ didn't really want to spend all afternoon, walking around a big old house (his mind was on football). Even after we got the boot from the tour guide, I had to laugh at his "Evelyn Wood speed reading history lesson.
On a creepier note: as we trekked back down the hill, to the Carriage House (where we should have started our journey) a GIANT tree branch came crashing down from the bows of an ancient oak tree. It landed on the pathway, literally seconds after we'd walked by. I told DJ it was the ghosts of Loudoun's past, showing their malcontent for having a fellow Loudoun-ite turned away in such an uncilized fashion! LOL

  • Wow...that is really freaky about the TREE!

  • That was actually the first of TWO tree incidents that week. The second was an entire Willow tree that fell in my son"s apartment complex. We were lucky it stayed off the power lines!!! :+P

  • It looks like a beautiful home. Read the description box and FREAKY about the tree limb crashing down. SCARY. So, did you ever go get tickets and go in? Or just say screw it? hahaha

  • I still wanted to go get tickets (or at least buy a book, so I could read up on the history) but DJ had already been dragged around at the dog show all afternoon, so I gave up and we wen to Roy Rogers and got milshakes instead. :+)
