  • This is special, thanks for sharing this with me. Can you please tell me the year? Is this recording on a roll?? Any assistance is much appreciated!

  • I think the year is 1905,

this is not a recording on roll, but a banjo player

  • oh im sorry, i am just wondering if you are aware of this recording being originally issued on a roll or as a 78?

  • yes, 78 rpm

  • OSSMAN MY MAN, LIKE HIS PLAYING.

  • Who do you think the pianist is on this recording? Could it be Frank P. Banta, Charles H.H. Booth, or somebody else? Does anybody out there have a good guess?

  • by "roll" do you mean cylinder record? In this case, this would be a valid question, cylinder versus flat-disc recording.

The only kind of "roll" made out of perforated paper, that I can think of relating to this would be for the Encore Banjo and Banjorchestra player banjo instruments. Some of these rolls are pretty good, but NONE of them are hand-played; all were arranged in the factory by musicians using the drafting-board method.
