On December 24, 2009, a crippling blizzard struck Oklahoma and surrounding Plains states. Winds of 50-60 MPH combined with over a foot of snow, shutting down the state capital, cutting power to thousands and creating massive travel issues. Meteorologist Gabe Garfield documented the storm from the Norman area, including the University of Oklahoma campus.

  • Eh, Oklahomans may not have experience with this exact type of weather, but they still are tough and prepared for weather. I used to be annoyed by those (Prepare for a blizzard) commercials that would come on every year.
