ya forgot to set the exposure to manual... I hate when the hv20 changes exposure automatically. There isn't a manaul exposure setting but you can hack it just by hitting the function button (where you would normally set the gain) and leave it at zero. As long as you have that gain adjustment displayed, the hv20 should not adjust the exposure.

Im shooting on a 7d and 5d. Question: when you shoot the gray card. Do you take a picture of it in awb? I know you have to take a picture of it and then go through the custom white balance settings and the camera will adjust it through there. But i don't know if you shoot the picture of the gray card in awb or in another color temperature or not.

hi eugenia, why grey card does it emulate the 35mm film look.. so are the major camcorders coming out with adapters for hobbyist.

I don't understand what you are saying. A gray card does not emulate any 35mm film look, it just helps with white balance -- but it's true that a color card might help your camera to emulate some film stocks.
