Holocaust denial - eye witness testimony

Holocaust deniers claim that we cannot believe eye witnesses.
Whereas it is undoubtedly the case that many eye witnesses are totally unreliable, a good historian can ask trick questions to test the validity of the evidence in the same way the police might do or a salesman may do.
Indeed nearly all records are based on eye witness testimony.
In the case of the holocaust, it is undoubtedly the case that there have been cases where deliberate untruths have been told although they are insignificant when compared to the hard neo Nazi elements that deliberately seek to distort the truth by lying about the evidence.
Eye witnesses come from all sides of the spectrum : the victims that survived, the perpetrators and the bystanders. There are still plenty of bystanders to question - not that the denier liars are going to do that because it is not in their interests to do so.
However let us assume that the denier liars are correct. There is an upside if we can discount eye witness testimony as this film demonstrates.

For us Germans there is NO DOUBT about the FACT: THE HOLOCAUST REALLY HAPPEND!

We feel great respect and sorrow for the poor people who were killed and had to suffer in the name of the german people.

For us younger germans of nowadays the question is: How and why could it happen and what can we do in order to avoid something like the holocaust during our lifetime and in future?

There is absolutely no doubt for anyone (except for a few Nazis) that the holocaust happened.

Germany has taken a lead in exposing the lies of the neo Nazis and is in the forefront of the fight against these Hitler admirers. If all countries showed the same courage as Germany then there would be nothing to worry about from a Nazi resurgence in the future.

thx alanheath - i am not guilty (born 1973) - but as a german i am responsible to remember and to avoid equals situations.

we should never forget! and we should share our deep feelings with everybody - so we can also avoid those things happening in other parts of the world.

germany is the best example that fascist states will lead into deep depression.

Anyone who blames Germans for what happened is no better than the Nazis themselves. The real culprit for the holocaust was racism which is international.

Germany has taken the lead in fighting racism and needs to be commended for what it has done and what it continues to do.

it is more easy to deny years after something happened, and deny facts and the research what was done in time.

of course - if you beleieve all movies about the holocaust are just hollywood made - you don´t give anybody the chance to proof it .. 70 years after it happended. this is no fair critic, but cowardly.

imagine i would tell you that comunists in ussr and gdr did not kill people trying to escape. that all movies and facts are just lies of the usa and the capitalism .. what would you say?
