Here is Jimmy James the teesside born 'comedians comedian' performing his classic 'drunk' routine (from 1936). It was a sketch along with his 'In the Box' routine which he performed on stage and TV for years. He also reprised it in the John E. Blakeley/Mancunian Films production of 'Over the Garden Wall' (1950). SEE: http://www.angelfire.com/ab7/history_doorstep/jollywood.html for details of the John E. Blakeley / Mancunian story 'Hooray for Jollywood'. ------ "The book is a splendid evocation of a golden era of Mancunian and Lancastrian humour a book I could happily read over and over again". (Manchester Evening News). ***** "a must for all movie buffs". (Tameside Reporter). ***** "This book is a 'must-have' for anybody interested in the subject matter contained here. I cannot think of any other work which so comprehensively tells us about this much-missed man and the films he made". (Peter Pollard - George Formby Society).

Top 3 English Stage Drunks:
1) Jimmy James (The best)
2) Freddie Frinton (Why isn't 'Meet the Wife' ever repeated on Sky TV?
3) Frank Randle (He had to rein his in as he was often drunker than the character)
