@Audinos depends, I play sheng, sometimes u have to blow a lot of air to produce longer and louder notes, sometimes u just have to blow a little air to produce a note.

I had no idea a sheng could do so much. I once had a kaen from Thailand (a similar instrument) that required so much air that I almost passed out playing it. Do shengs also use a lot of wind?

Try Henry Wang at Melody of China in San Francisco. He can special order various kinds of sheng from China.

Traditional is easier, and the best to get the fundamentals of the technique. Keyed ones have extra chromatic pitches that aren't used in older traditional Chinese music anyway.

Oh and I forgot. Got any tips on where to buy one other than ebay? Maybe there is some ancient dojo up in the mountains in Chine where the dojo members live in harmony with the pandas living on nothing but the energy from the sun! And maybe they create Shengs for the international market... But yeah, do anyone know a good place?

If I would buy one, would it be the best to get a keyed one or traditional one? Traditional one would be so much more awesome but is it way more difficult to play?

I am a great lover of organmusic, but I've never heard such beautifull harmonies in my life!!! This Sheng, one time time sounds like a sesqualtera the other time like a mixture or septieme, even a preastant, beautifull!
Is the sheng soloist's name Wu Wei? This should be added to the video description.
