It is definitely the best Bolero performance. Fantastic.

i am proud to be born in romania because of him

@robertslistening I agree. Why? Not because I consider myself superior to "The Great Celibidache", but because I consider Ravel's tempo more appropriate to Ravel's piece than Celibidache's.

This comes off more like a royal procession, than something like a victorious calvary riding through the streets. A tad too slow. This piece should also show off each instrument group. Andre Rieu does this. I like the way each instrument group get to show their stuff in his version. It's a simple repeating melody and they take turns...like...now it's my turn to show what I can contribute to this piece. This was okay, but I think he missed some of the intent of the piece.

Bravo Maestre.

@herodot2 But Celibidache did EVERYTHING slower. That was his shtick.

:S don't like it... but don't worry, i don't like the Karajan's version either! xD
And like with Bruckner, he takes Bolero at a much slower seped than everybody else, gets a richness and balance of sound sout of it that at a higher speed is impossible, WHILE BEING ABLE to maintain the music's tension.
Only he could do that.

Genial. Celi no solo es supremo en Bruckner. Para mí este es el mejor Bolero ever...
