Why didn't Optimus kill Megatron?

@UltimatePredator100 Because Autobots aren't killers, because it would mean he wasn't around for season 4 (there wasn't a season 4 anyway, but for other reasons), and because as Optimus Prime says, Megatron doesn't deserve a martyr's death.

 Good grief!!! You fukkers have been critically analyzing TF's to the point it should be worked-over in college literature classes!! It is impressive however the symbolisim you guys are breaking down.

and brought in a team to help. They kept some aspects of the show, including the Autobots being smaller and the show being character driven, but Hasbro asked for a bold, dynamic look. And that's what they got. And the thing is, they didn't just get a cartoon. The team developed an entire universe, including characters and concepts that were never seen in the show. The backstory, the mythology, TF culture and society.

Only then did they figure out how to make toys out of them.

@hioshimtsu Actually, they're getting _less_ lazy. Unlike the Unicron Trilogy, where the toys were designed first and little more than "scanned" into a cartoon, the Animated cartoon was designed before the toys. Preproduction, including design, started at least 18 mths before any episode aired, and used several influences, particularly Mighty Orbots.

But Hasbro had been planning "the next Transformers" another 18 mths before _that_. Hasbro was not satisfied with the design they had

@MonsterXQuattro How was Optimus supposed to fight a guy who could fly without the ability to fly? Ratchet attached a jetpack to his back using the schematics downloaded from Starscream. Otherwise the battle would go like this:

Optimus: get down here and fight like we did in G1!

Megatron: and get my ass handed to me again? Yeah right, im actually using my brain now! *shoots him from the sky*
