@wp6265 A jaffa cake is in fact a cake, the definition of which is, that a cake when stale goes hard, whereas a biscuit goes soft. Hence there is no VAT chargeable on jaffa cakes, but it is chargeable on biscuits!

This debate will go on and on i can see. Mr Fellows is pure bloody gold, pure gold.

John, I'm not sure you are cognescent of the fact that a biscuit in America is a sort of barm. I'd hate to think that between you and Cheryl Cole you are unwittingly compromising Britains relationship with our natural ally. Her with her incomprehensible brogue and you and your failure to grasp the obvious baking/linguistic crossover.

ooooh John it would have to be a Ritz cracker or some other variety of savoury snack, you couldn't have a sweet biscuit before your dinner, it just wouldn't be right.
-
@wp6265 Actually, you are mistaken. The Jaffa Cake is a cake, not a biscuit. This was proven in court, in the 1991 case of McVities vs HM Customs and Excise.

John, surely a Jaffa cake would solve the problem, being part cake, part biscuit.
