I lived in Seoul for a year and had a wonderful time. All you have to do is be polite, perhaps pick up basic words as she said, like thank you, hello and please. This will get you far there. Korean people are great, just don't take your prejudices there, remember, you are a guest there. Enjoy the country, its an awesome experience.

Some extra tips
1) Don't be alarmed if you get stared at, they are just being curious
2) Don't think they're being racist if they call Filipinos dirty black monkeys
3) If you're a blond female, expect Koreans men to think you're a Russian hooker
4) If you're waiting patiently in line, expect to get elbowed out of the way by a middle-aged woman with a tight perm wearing pink gore-tex
5) Say you like kimchi even if you think it's garbage

I've been here almost 5 years, and:
1. You don't need to know much Korean to live here. There's alot of English here. Of course, the more you learn, the more enjoyable your experience will be.
2. You don't need to bow as she says. Common greeting courtesy is sufficient. A slight bow is sufficient.
3. Saying Anyeong Haseyo and Kamsa hamnida is a given and hardly a tip. That's like telling Koreans they need to say thank you in N. America. Really? Omg! I had no idea!

@sunnydahye You're so beautiful. Are all Korean girls beautiful like you?
I'm sad now.
Actually, nah, I'm happy.

You live in SF and you dated a Chinese woman, and wonder why Chinese don't bow? Why don't you use your minority status and go around asking all the Chinese why, instead of wondering why culture differences exist in the 21st century.
And also I'm Chinese and I live in the SGV so you don't need to explain stuff to me.

안녕!
I am an American learning Korean and hope to visit Korea someday. This video was very helpful. 감사합니다! :)
@ackWilliamOnTour thanks! Hmm offensive? Ppl in korea thinks if you pronounce english words in english they see you as showing off.(Especially korean who lived abroad like me) That's just what people think overall..., some ppl will think ure being arrogant if you do it. So its more like adapting to what they think its ok,I'm not offending korean in anyway. Why would I? I'm korean myself, and I don't want or like to offend my own people. ^o^ thanks for understanding.
