  • This piece has never made me cry before. This woman is remarkable--I cannot believe I am only hearing of her for the first time today. I must find her Beethoven sonatas and listen to them.

  • 3 listens ! Perfect music for her but so was Chopin .She interprets! Every note , every section . ALIVE . THINKING . THIS IS WHO WE SHOULD ALL BE TALKING ABOUT ! She has more flair than Simon b. antics and speed or Bolet . Her textures and lines and levels will leave you dazed . The most imagistic playing I HAVE EVER HEARD ! WHAT RUSSIAN SCHOOL DID SHE COME FROM? Igumnov,Goldenweiser?.REMARKABLE ! She is very different but never outrageous it all makes sense.

But she married Polish Communist emigrant Stanislaw Stande. Grinberg's husband and also Grinberg's father were arrested in 1937 and executed afterwards. So, she became a widow with a little daughter. During the war she worked as aa timpanist ... But after the war she returned to the concert halls...

  • @lovesGenet WHAT RUSSIAN SCHOOL DID SHE COME FROM? Igumnov,Goldenweiser?

Felix Blumenfeld (Moscow conservatoire), after his death - Igumnov a little. The first task that Blumenfeld gave her for the next lesson - to prepare all the Chopin's ballades. So, she did it.

She was he orthodox Komsomol member when she was young. In 1935 she won the 2nd prize at the 2nd All-Union Competition.

  • @lovesGenet You ask, what Russian school did she come from? The answer: she studied with Felix Blumenfeld, the same man who taught Horowitz. For this particular piece, I think her playing is far superior to Horowitz. Just for this particular piece, which is all I have heard. I would like to hear her play much more!!

  • I agree! Such incredible passion!
