Alexandria was the dream city of the Mediterranean many years ago, and was also inhabited by a very multicultural and cosmopolitan population. Many famous personalities have originated from there, well after Alexander the Great, Cleopatra and recently the Nobel poet Kavafis.

Almost all the Hotels in Montazah Palace grounds were the individual buildings built for the Queen, and children, over and above King Farouks Palace which houses also the Casino. As for the numerous bungalows in the same coastal areas, these were built after 1956, for private use to people who leased them yearly.

Every city in Egypt is beautiful but Cairo is the best

Many of the photos were taken by my wife from a tour bus window. We really enjoyed the group of kids outside of the library. They were adorable, friendly and fun. I made gestures like waving my arms, they would all mimic it. Eventually one of their chaperones came over and stopped the fun.

Thank you for your comments. I really liked the group of school boys who were waiting to tour the library. They loved being photographed and, in unison, would mimic my every gesture. I got them into a bit of trouble because one of their teachers came over and lectured them to be quiet. Later, I passed them and every one of them gave me a "high five."
