I love this song. It gives me goosebumps. It is so beautiful, the lyrics and the orchestration, I am breathless when I listen. Garage Rock Channel says: Lou, you made the world happy with this beautiful number.

Thanks for posting! And it's nice this one has the original lyrics that caused a big uproar in 1966! Great song.

I've long considered this song to be an absolute masterpiece of pop music. Lyrically and musically, it is perfect. Amazing how much of a fuss this song created when it was released, it is tame by today's standards. This song reminds me of the greatest (yet bittersweet) summer of my life.
Here's to one hot and rainy night in August...
"Yesterday...bring back yesterday..."

LOL, so tame by today's music, which IMO is crap. If you want a 60's song that had metaphor's, and inuendo's right and left try "Cinnamon" by Derek. I can still remember my Dad shaking his head when he heard it on the radio! If he could only know what the future had in store for the music scene...
They played "Rhapsody" , and this one on my station in the 60's.
I sure miss the 60's!

The nuns banned this song from being played at our sock hops. As though everyone wasn't out in their cars afterwards... ;>) Ah, but I loved the days when right was right and wrong was, well, wrong!

@247copenhagen : This was released in the mid 60's. Buddy Holly brought real rock and roll to life again for us - all the while Elvis was churning out B, C and D movies like there was no tomorrow. Lou Christie was talent personified. He was one of the few musicians to weather the British Invasion of the sixties.

@10Dec1971 It wasn't banned in my town. It played all the time on AM radio.

Put my name on the list!

@ShanghaiJill LOL this is my favorite teenage sex in a car song ever!

This has always been one of my favorites by Lou but for years no one would play it. Thanks for giving it back to me.

My son asked me if there were ever any songs from my day (when did it stop being my day! I want my day back!) that were considered "inappropriate" for radio.
This was the first one that came to mind.
I love this song though.
And I love Lou.
