  • Fleischer was one of our giants. I'm sure somewhere up there, he and Veditz are sharing a beer, chatting, and cheering us on in our attempts to cherish and defend ASL and Deaf culture!

  • @DrDonGCSUS

    clink clink!

giants indeed - we gotta learn who our giants were and are and shine a spotlight on them so we can stand on the shoulders of ur ancestors - big time

  • Had to delete my previous as it was incomplete. Speaking of "protection" of ASL and keeping Deaf Studies within its rightful center in academia...this message by Veditz and Fleischer is THE reason for my endless activism. Thank you for sharing this powerful video.

  • @aslnikki

hi nikki - thanks for completing the comment - i think before u had written POWERFUL and that one word pretty much sums it up for me too - re: ur endless activism - Veditz and Fleischer would be proud. They never gave up. onward and upward

  • OH WOW! I LOVE THIS. It inspired me deeply.... Thanks for sharing with me that I never saw Dr Fletcher in person before.. He was so right about protecting our American Sign Language all along. That s what I strongly believe in the bottom of my heart.. Also, I do not believe SEE and ORAL altogether that includes listening, It causes us wired up our Deaf brains that hurts us our eyes. It has to be ASL plus English that helps us better to focus and thinkings.

  • @PopeMistress

Now, I gotta go away from computer for the rest of this day! Just enjoy my rest and catch up the laundry duty for today!

  • @John04mans

thanks for ur note. re: Veditz position on "defend" from all i have read and learned about his actions (i still have alot more to learn) i do think he often was on the offense but he was up against an incredible tidal wave of Oralism. without him and several other freedom fighters things would be much worse today but the truth always prevails. 'We got the right to be D E A F" oh yeah

re: today's Offense - we have some folks and groups getting a busy

AIC - upsetting to see - yes
