It was originally called Final Fantasy becasue square was low on money and about to go out of business so they released one last game hopeing for the best. Hence "Final" Fantasy. But it took off like hotcakes and here we are today!

Take it from someone who has spent a couple nights sleeping under a bridge, one in a gutter behind a church, and almost a year and a half in a homeless shelter simply because no one was hiring.
