  • Thank you so much for posting this! I saw this and "I'm the Slime" that night- back then I didn't own a TV, had never seen SNL, and went to a friend's house to watch because Frank was going to be on TV. I loved the show and watched it again the next week. When Belushi came out, I said to my girlfriend "What is Zappa's singer doing on here again?" This was on YouTube before but with poor audio/video. And I hadn't seen "I'm the Slime" since that night, Dec. 11th, I think. Thank You, Thank You!

  • Thank you for wonderful comment.

  • @nonthere I saw this when I was around 12, I remember I downloaded it from Napster (this was probably in 99) and I was never exposed to anything like this before. It blew me away .. I didn't know what to make of it but I thought it was so cool.

  • @Margodurbea you're right zappa is much better.

  • Terry Mother Fucking Bozzio!

  • WIRED! Fully.

  • @noisyflowers The horns are playing Approximate and the rest of the band is playing The Purple Lagoon :-)

  • Thanks for posting this video. It's actually Approximate not Purple Lagoon but either way it's awesome.

  • Wonderful clip thought I feel like I have to point out that it is actually Approximate not The Purple Lagoon.

  • SNL should give this kind of music a chance again! But no... now they'd rather have some trendy shite like Lady Gaga.

  • extremely cool!!!

  • Did you notice that even while John Belushi improvised his scat vocals that the Maestro never stopped with his timekeeping? (the wand stayed in motion) keeping the piece going for all of the musicians to stay in character.
