The legendary DIY synthpop single Slip Away was recorded in St. Austell, Cornwall by AAAH... ! in 1982. Self-released on Flesh Logic Records, it has become one of the most talked about 'discoveries' of the minimal wave revival. My blog - http://sofroflo.blogspot.com - has the story of my quest to track down the elusive genius behind it, Dr Henry Kent, and my cover version is on this channel. The tragedy is that Henry died in 2006 aged 53, so all the things I wanted to ask him will remain unasked.
The follow-up single, Input:Output c/w Neon and Nylon was never released. The great Systems Of Romance blog has made it available for download here - http://systemsofromance.blogspot.com/search?q=input+output
SOR blogger Frankie Teardrop has done much to publicise lost minimal synth & new wave gems like these, and we're both indebted to Kez Stone, vocalist and co-writer of Slip Away, for providing AAAH... ! mp3 files. Kez is in the middle of the photo holding the guitar; on the left is the mercurial Henry Kent RIP and on the right is Henry's ex-wife Barbie who played bass on Slip Away.
The original mix of Input:Output that Frankie uploaded is good of course, but I prefer this remix version and I'm pleased to be able to share it.
