So this is the alternate "good ending" to Megazone 23 huh? It sure makes more sense than Shogo limping home with his tail between his legs. I mean I get why Shogo gets beaten at first, but he really doesn't seem the type to give up so easy.

This clip is great and better quality. And true this clip was commission by Cannon Pictures and I had an opportunity to buy a used Robotech the Movie on VHS by warner home video for $5 dollars used in New York in a store called Record Explosion in 1995. but its a regret to at least see wat it look like.

@zvermilyer3 Perhaps Shogo would take charge and fight the Dezalg with help from EVE. Not sure how that would turn out but it'd make for an interesting story in Part 2. Plus, it could help expand his character more.
On a side note, I wish we could see what Megazone 23 looked like on the outside and a detailed look at the interior. We only saw it as a small round ship in Part 2 prior to its destruction and nothing more.
-
Precisely. The real question is what would happen next. With both B.D. and the leaders of the legitimate government dead, I'm not sure who would be in charge now. Plus, the inhabitants of Megazone 23 still have the Dezalg aliens to deal with.
-
@zvermilyer3 And EVE would see this as an opportunity to get Shogo to take down B.D. for good. At least I infer so. Plus, Eigen would want Mai to be somewhere safe, hence, the airplane.
-
Simple: Eigen had a change of heart and decided he didn't want to work with B.D. anymore. But since Eigen knew too much (i.e., that it's actually the distant future and they're all living in a giant spaceship controlled by a computer), B.D. couldn't let him live. Granted, that's only a theory of mine, but it makes sense.
-
@RageCanti Though it does make you wonder why BD would go after his associate, Eigen.

@DrakeTimbershaft Why did you see it then?
Very good work! See people? There is alot of information in analog LD that you can extract, like this guy here. I tend to capture laserdisc in uncompressed video. But mine tends to look a little different. Please, tell me what is your:
1. Laserdisc player model
2. Deinterlace plugins and filters? I assume this is avisynth?
3. Encoder workflow.
When you have the time. Thank you!

@vtak3
Sadly I don't have the LD of this, though an estranged friend of mine does. I was able to get this footage from the accompanied DVD that was released with the limited release Japanese Megazone 23 Game, Aoi Garland, during one of my trips to Japan. The DVD video is very washed out, but I was able to color correct it a bit and level out the brightness and contrast levels. I used VirtualDubMod. LD/analog is always better for animation, especially where dark subtle scenes are concerned. TY

The music in this is so awesome is it part of the video or you put it in
I much prefer this over the original ending though people might disagree with me

@RageCanti
The first teo music tracks used in this video are from the MZ23 "image" album named "Four Spirits". They were original compositions by a japanese composer named Sagisu Shiro, who has had a very long career as a self titled composer and as a great contributor to anime scores. The third track is a hybrid with a tint of a Led Zeppelin song.
I'm very happy to know you enjoyed this vid and it's musical score ^_^
