Being a child of the Seventies, one of my early memories is of the string art that adorned my parents walls. It fascinated me that some pins and a few pieces of string could generate such complex designs (at least that's what I imagine myself thinking - dressed in a junior smoking jacket and blowing bubbles out of a toy pipe). In the early eighties I got given a Spirograph for xmas and my interest in generating complex patterns from simple actions became fevered. Rainforests were decimated so that I might scrawl endless patterns with biros. My parents bought a Dragon 32 computer and I found that with simple code, I could generate geometric computer images much finer and detailed than before. The nineties arrived and with it a fascination with all things counter cultural and psychedelic. This time I found myself immersed in the world of fractals and brain machines in my quest for that sacred geometry. Now, its the naughties (ugh). Checking out the capacities of new software and new hardware, I have been playing around with sequencing effects in Apple Motion and After Effects and the obsession returned again. The above is the first result but I have a horrible feeling there will be many more. Maybe I should become a screensaver designer.
it's good! Keep going.
