About the music:

The music for this video is provided by Josh Verdes (used with permission). The song is appropriately titled "Home" and C.D.'s are available from the artist at his website http://www.joshverdes.com

"As a kid, Josh was constantly surrounded by music. His dad was a veteran keyboard player and used to play in a band in his earlier years. At the age of 5, Josh started with piano lessons and played for 5 years. Seeing that it was forced on him, he didn't really enjoy it and wanted to venture into other instruments. At the age of 11 Josh took on the drums and began playing regularly at church. But after a while, he again became hungry to learn other instruments and soon picked up the bass guitar, which ultimately led him to finding his beloved acoustic guitar. Since the age of 14, Josh has been writing songs and has been able to incorporate what he has learned through his experience with other instruments; a sound that instantly engages its listeners. Now at the age of 25, Josh is continuing to write and perform his music, hoping that it will make a connection with the world."

About the video:

This video is comprised of over 12,000 individual digital photos. One picture taken every thirty seconds each Saturday for six months. The camera used is a Nikon Coolpix 8700. The video was edited with Ulead Video Studio 11 on a Dell Vostro laptop.

When I originally agreed to help a friend volunteer to work for a single day at a Habitat for Humanity job site, I had no idea how much fun I was going to have. My original idea was to capture time lapse footage of that day as a record for myself and my fellow volunteers. I was instantly hooked on working on the house and getting to know all of the amazing people involved with making such an wonderful project come to life. As you can see from the video, I was so impressed and excited about the work being done that I returned every weekend until the project was completed. I strongly urge you too, to get involved by going to the Habitat for Humanity web site http://www.habitat.org and volunteering in any way that you can today!

In addition to numerous other individual organizations and volunteers, this particular Habitat for Humanity home was built in association with Community of Christ. "Worldwide, each of our congregations is a warm, participative community where we respect—and use—the gifts and talents of each person, from oldest to youngest in celebration of our mission. In neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and organizations, we share the peace of Jesus Christ by caring for each other, for all people, and for the earth itself. We promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace." http://www.cofchrist.org

We very much appreciate everyone's patience, tolerance, and cooperation while filming and otherwise creating this video.

For some reason every time I uploaded this in a high quality format, it cut off the last 45 seconds. Out of frustration, this is the best you're going to get. Please watch in HQ mode for best viewing.

  • I have a Nikon 8700 as well, how do you put all the photos together in a movie clip?

  • One - at - a - time...

Most video editors will allow you to "select all" pictures from a single file and open them to the library or time line. However, most editors also have a limit on the number of pictures it can open from a file, mine is somewhere around 300, so i never had more than that in a single file.

    Hope this helped...

  • ive got to get involved with this. another great vid man. bet you learned something about auto white balance from this huh? lol hey how did you do the panning shots in timelapse? stand there and move it? i would forget if i tried that haha

  • I loved it! Very rewarding work, and exceptionally educational!

Yup, learned a lot from this one. Panning in time lapse does require something to move the camera as it shoots, in this case yes, it was me.

    Thanks for checking it out!

  • Maybe my comment will stick this time.

    Sweet video!

  • Sorry, I had to re-upload this several times. The end kept getting cut off.

    Thanks for always being there!
