  • I'm sorry, but this isn't a racist comment. First of all, this is taken out of context. I wish we had the rest of the interview. I'm not offended one bit by this comment and it'll take much more than this for me to stop appreciating Miles's music. I strongly recommend to anyone his autobiography, it's a very instructive reading. I'm white and I also think sometimes that we don't get it. Nothing wrong with that. Bottom line is, we all don't understand. Proof, look at the mess around us.

  • Okay white people don't understand what ? where's the rest of the clip ? If you try to sum up anything from a partial clip and take it out it's context U R an Idiot..don't assume anything because he said white people don't understand

  • I'm offended by the chop job on this video. In context it's QUITE clear why Miles made statements like this. As a white, I'm embarrassed how this genius was treated throughout his career, (as with Sammy Davis, Harry B., Nat, to name a few). Miles came at his art sincerely as a black man and the society of the time wasn't ready for that at all. I agree with Miles.

  • hahaha

  • I agree with miles

  • Comments: A great example of a lot of white people not understanding.

  • @M1STERPYGMY

It's called "Miles" Miles Davis with Quincy Troupe", on Touchstone, published by Simon and Schuster NY. It's about 500 pages, but you won't let go the book once you start reading it. I thought I knew a lot about jazz, and I realized I didn't know anything until I read that book. There is no bullshit and no romance. It really was a rough time for every musician.

  • @boyscoutonacid which autobiography? there's 2 autobiographies: one that's just written by davis and one which has davis and quincy troupe listed as authors. which would be better to read first?

  • I don't get it.

  • @moozikman61 he;'s saying white people don't understand why he was the best at trumpet in his school yet he was never allowed in bands or won any contests because of his colour. which is true, they don't.

  • @boyscoutonacid You are correct in your assessment. This is a 7 second clip of an interview, what was said prior to provoke that response? Everything is not to be known or understood by everyone, color has little to do with it. Music is the one of the main mediums that brings people of all races together. Can we just enjoy the music?:)

  • @MrBassakos But he isn't racist.
