Thanks! I didn't build this plane, but it's finished with a silk type covering and painted w/ dope. It has a fairly nice finish, and it's very light weight. The only downside to this finish would be making repairs if damaged. I think the .91 4S is the perfect engine for this plane. I used the 90 twin because I had never used it before, and it didn't require any cowl cutting for the cylinders.
Hi, beautiful plane:) I am also building the kit and will have power coming from a Thunder Tiger .91 4S. I'm trying to keep the weight down while being able to have a rigid exterior shell to make panel lines and rivets. To try and further nail down how I will proceed, I'd like to know what materials you've used to finish the model and if you would have done it differently in retrospect. Thanks for your response in advance.
Thanks! The 90TS is plenty for this aircraft. It flys comfortably at around half power with a 14X6 prop. We are at about 800' , and yes the engine just fits nicely without cutting any holes. I have opened the bottom of the cowl some, between the cowl flaps for more exit area, and the engine seems to be cool enough. You will enjoy it, I am!
This is a great video. Thanks for posting it, I just bought the ARF version of this kit, and was wondering if the 90T would be powerful enough. It seems that it is. If I may ask, what altitude are you at? It looks like the engine cowls completely as well, without needing to cut it up. Is that so? Thanks again for a great video post.
