Professor Pedro Sauer (8th Degree Red/Black Belt under Rickson and Helio Gracie) demonstrates a variation on the harpoon sweep when you are on your back and your opponent has you in side control. He further explains what to do when your opponent stops the harpoon sweep.

I have found that a lot of "gi" technique transfer easily to "no-gi". Some are a little risky though. Take this one, instead of grabbing the belt, try to grip your hands together. sometimes it works other times you'll set it aside. However, the "gi" stuff is really useful for self defense due to the addition of being able to grab clothing. By all means test things out.
