So I've been learning the 3d animation program Blender. I started out with Blender 2.58. I have been watching Blender tutorials almost every day. I finished this one showing how to model and animate a goldfish with a lattice. So I took it a step further and modeled a shark and animated it swimming. It turned out pretty nice. So I duplicated the original shark and lattice settup hoping it would give me a bunch of sharks swimming and to my pleasant surprise it worked. Blender is awsome. But there is so much to learn with this program because there are so many features. I can't believe this program is free.

  • well i think the movements maybe JUST a little too serpentine. but its awsome anywho XD and who is gonna notice little thing like the movement (besides me :P, and do not mind me, im a perfectionist.) anyway you atleast got your sharks swimmin around XD mine looks kinda like its thrashing or spazzing out XD so i cannot really critiq...

  • @dragonrage500 Thanks for the comments. I know the potential hazzards of being a perfectionist myself. It's a constant struggle between perfection and being satisfied with well enough and moving on. I have so many unfinished projects because I can't stop "improving upon them." I've had to train myself to let some stuff go in order to complete an animation or a story. But on the other hand this is just basically a test animation that could definatly use some more fine tuning.

  • @JoeFWall nother reason not to mind me is you got multiple models going on in this thing. very imressive. rendering must have been a monster huh? have you ever used lightwave? maybe you could teach me a thing or two to improve my own stuff XD i would appreciate any help you can give. or if not lightwave then blender is another one.

  • @dragonrage500 Well you can certainly ask me anything about Blender in a comment on my videos. I may or may not know the answer. Sometimes I’m not much smarter than a 5th grader lol. I’m still at the stage of learning all I can from watching Blender tutorials myself. I'm working on uploading more vids more often. Both 3D and 2D so I'm sure I'll be learning new things with good ole Blender and I'll try to explain the process with them. I don't know Lightwave. I have worked a bit in Max and Maya.

  • Dude, Blender is so cool also cuz its freeware but a really dope software as we see here, ill give it a try soon aswell, greetz from JOhnny

  • @JohnnyTrotz There's so much it can do for a free program wich also means alot to learn. I just wish I had started on this program a long time ago.

  • @DnBastard Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. This was just a test to get the swimming movements down. So now I need to to buckle down and work on the lighting, materials and textures.

  • needs a blue/green mist and it'll be spot on :D

  • @pivotNova I don't have my own tutorial for that. I tried making a quick one today but I can't get my cam studio recorder to work without crashing or giving me a messed up video. But I found this tutorial that gives some good info on rendering. Just look for the video - Blender 2.5 Render Settings by CleverNameStudios. Hope that helps.

  • @JoeFWall awesome thx, do u have a tutorial on how to see your finished animations (after they are rendered)
