I can identify. I wanted to buy a sandwitch as this gas station and i walk to the guy and he says: "hello my friend, what can i do for you?" I order my food but he said: "sorry, i wasn't talking to you" and pointed at his blue-tooth headset.

@JackCapers you are a moron. why is it yo u cant take one moment to pull over, pick up the phone and place it to your ear and talk. i owned a bluetooth headset and i threw it away after the first week. because if im too busy to hold a phone to my ear im too busy to talk

i have to agree. this guy i works with has one he wears it 24/7!! you'll be in a conversation and just immediately ignores the person right in front of them and starts talking on the bluetooth headset lolll. he's such a douche. Most of these people have to talk really loud to be heard which only makes it worse. The biggest douche I saw though was this guy in a suit wearing one while he was on a date with his girlfriend!! Your on a date take the stupid thing off!!!
having a headset (provided it works well) is in every way superior to dedicating 50% of your hands to the simple task of speaking.
as to others in the vicinity...how are they better served by having 50% of the phone-talker's hands dedicated to the task of speaking?
if you think speaking on a cellphone in public is rude or annoying, fine (i sometimes find it annoying, but mostly don't care)...but how does the speaker's use of hands affect this?

At the very least, if you're using a handset, people are aware of the fact that you're using it. With the headset, it's generally hidden, which feels like such a casual disregard for people (which is often worse than the active disregard for people that public cellphone usage represents).
