The majority of illegals in Alabama were not in agriculture. Alabama unemplyment has dropped quicker than any state in America after the illegals left. Also, farmers that need to hire workers can use the H-2A visa program to bring in unlimited amount of farm workers if they can't find enough locals. If farmers need to find workers and there are not enough local workers, they can use the H-2A visa program to bring in UNLIMITED amounts of seasonal farm workers. However, using crooked contractors to hire cheap slave labor is cheaper for many millionaire farmers. Also, many farms all over the world use mechanization, but again, slave labor is cheaper, especially when you can shift the social and economic burden of illegals to the communities.
