When the world ends. This bay will become a thriving city.

@fjcaron "November 1 – Mid January 2012 – Exterior work. Some events pier side."
I just got that from the USS IOWA website

@fjcaron No they are currently doing some repairs to it in Richmond but I believe they will be giving some tours soon. I volunteer at The pacific coast air Museum and was dropping off a F-4N cockpit for display and was fortunate enough to get a tour of the deck.

nice thats gotta be a sight to see all those ships just sitting there.

Really enjoyed the tour, Frank. Many thanks.

One of many interesting things to see when visiting San Francisco and the Greater Bay Area. ;-)

I actually got to walk on deck of the USS IOWA yesterday. Its amazing to walk up to those 16" cannons up close.

@evh57 Is it opened to limited tours? I recall on the news reports when it was moved last month, they indicated it would be opened for limited tours prior to going to San Pedro.

The Iowa is impressive when You are that close to Her. Saw Her that close about 5 years ago there, when We were fishing that area, and of course did not have My camera with Me. I still remember when that fleet was 4 times that size there, with almost any kind of ship that Navy had during WW2, stored there.

@Texaslobo When I was working for Amtrak I'd always check out the fleet, yes it's gone down in size and there isn't the variety there once was. There is one old ship that has twin stacks, painted silver, looks like something Popeye served on, lol.
