In honor of the recent passing of Alex Chilton, Nakia performed his rendition of Big Star's "Thirteen" at his Official SXSW 2010 Showcase at St. David's Bethell Hall. This song was also dedicated to Nakia's friend Malcolm Ingram who first turned Nakia on to the song.

Not crazy about this version. I will take Evan Dando or Elliott Smith and an acoustic guitar any day. I think this guy strayed too much from the simple, pure original melody, which is perfect as is. He's talented, though, that much comes through.
