Trying to learn guitar, strumming isn't that bad but i'm still in the process of finding the right position for my picking hand. Hope you guys can comment on it.
Decided not to angle the pick since that sound isn't really my thing, but I could get used to it if it really is that handy (but I think I'm not going to be needing to pick very fast since what i've seen thats only needed for very fast metal riffing, right?)

Don't lock yourself down by digging in with your wrist on the bridge - you aren't doing that here, but it's a common thing and is best avoided. Some players have learned to play amazingly well DESPITE this, but that doesn't mean you should do it! // Also, don't anchor any of your fingertips to the face of the guitar! If anything, just "drag" the backs of your fingers (nails.) Ideally, don't rest ANYTHING on the face of your guitar. Let the pivot be where your forearm touches the guitar. : )

Pinky on the board, keep the rest closed. Makes for a strong grip, lots of motion freedom and some guidance.
