Piracy, Copyright & Torrents - What Do You Think?

A video about internet piracy and file sharing and my thoughts on them.

Having recently had a popular Youtube video removed due to supposed copyright infringement, I thought it'd be a good time to talk about it.

What are your views? Should piracy be a crime? Is it as bad as other forms of theft? Do you download or use torrents?

Would be great to hear what you all think.

Interesting video, I download music off PB all the time, but buy DVDs, personally I think they shouldnt overprice music and DVDs then people could afford it, all these big companies are making enough anyway so why are they complaining!

True. It's insane that they charge around 17 quid for a new DVD....and then it's reduced to 3 quid within a matter of months.

They need to settle on realistic prices.

preventing multi-millionaires from possibly becoming billionaires doesn't strike the average man as stealing

company's over charge digital content hundreds of % or even thousands to what actually they should cost so its all about greed

Internet Piracy is necessary it keeps prices down & quality up

Piracy is free advertisement. FREE ADVERTISEMENT. If you put up a comic for free up on the internet and let it sit there for a month, you would get more response than not being free.

I don't think there is any justification for pirating DVDs or Music. Sure, the people you're stealing from may be multi-millionaires but haven't they earned it? You might not think that pirating is such a bad thing because they are still getting lots of money, but if everyone did pirate they wouldn't have anything and we wouldn't be able to enjoy the entertainment they provide.

So where is the line drawn?

I do download some films and you can get ones in hd all you have to do is when looking at vedios such as in piratebay go on to vedios and then hires. This gets you all the way up to 1080p. Just have to wait a littile while after blu-ray release in any speaking countory that speaks your langauge

@odyne88 Not neccessarily, because copyright is not a ban on a product while prohibition of alcohol was. Copyright merely asks that people pay a price for a product. I personally don't find video games or movies all so addicting when I actually payed for them, rather than pirated them.

@sovietterran You make a good point. Even legal materials can be backed up. That's what I do enjoy about most of the producers of music, pc games, and songs, is the fact that they have gone digital, and I can back up the source files. In addition, if I supposedly had to steal something, is it really all that worth it? In my experience, not really so much.

Internet piracy is just plain risky. Some programs can be seriously flawed or hurt your computer because they are bugged to some extent.

And another thing. We know internet piracy is inevitable. The thing is why don't movie producers allow their videos streamed online for free. But you'd be like WTF how do we make money. GRRRRR!!!! Answer is add 30 second ads. ETC ETC. Just an idea. I mean it is probably the best they can hope for. Suing people? Seriously.... So many families are destroyed because of it.
