Aw so cute! What uni subject were you taking? I'm taking arts but also doing psychology and biology and really would love to study animal behavior in the future so I could help improve animal welfare!
Good luck with your study/ work! Love this vid

that is sooooo funny! all my life (while having rats involved) i always thought that they were fighting because they would wake me up in the middle of the night.

@jason6295 All fancy rats are the same species, they are a domesticated version of the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus). The breed of these is hooded rat, I believe. Have fun with them!

What a gorgeous rat! The coloring on his entire head and all the way down his spine looks almost perfect to the marking standard for hooded rats. The owner should consider entering him into a show if he's still alive.

Thanks! unfortunately these rats were owned by my university and they are no longer alive (one of the reasons I will not be going into experimental psych). The purposes of my research were to try to better the welfare of animals like these kept in captivity for research in pretty barren conditions. It was sad research to do really, but I'm hoping it can be used to better the lives of animals used in research.

cute! so you are working on rat's affection reported by Dr. Panksepp, right? today I've just bought a bat detector to hear my pet rat's voice. so excited!

I was working on a project to see if I could somehow measure welfare with the tickling vocalizations (or laughter). I was hoping to create a new test to measure stress levels in animals that could be used to assess the happiness of animals used for research.
