Amid battle scenes that have been described by one commander as the most
intense "since the Korean War," the BBC's Alastair Leithead, award-winning
cameraman Fred Scott and field producer Peter Emmerson spent nine days with
U.K. forces in a remote area of southern Afghanistan. There they found
themselves under the constant risk of ambush and attack.

This past fall, as the BBC team was embedded with the troops, the struggle
intensified between British troops and the forces of the Taliban. Around 5,800
U.K. troops are stationed in Afghanistan, following the U.S.-led invasion in
October 2001, and to date more than 40 have been killed. The majority of the
deployment is in Helmand, an area of major Taliban activity and opium
production.

The filmmakers gained unique, prolonged access to the soldiers of the Royal
Marines 3 Commando Brigade as they fought a shifting and elusive Taliban
threat. Every day, the fighting continues to destroy buildings and lives-
forcing people from their homes. Battlefield Afghanistan is a daring film that
takes viewers directly to the frontlines and questions whether the NATO forces
are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.

  • @martynrobin121 there is nothing illegal in defending your people the hamas and other terrorist stop launching missles into israel then isreal stop having to return fire. have you ever been under fire? I have been buy drug dealing thugs which is what al keda is

  • @martynrobin121 the sunnis and shia killed each other it wasn't just americans vs iraqis and in 2006 the sunni awakening happened and they turned against alkadea and started helping Americans but i doubt you have done any real reserch its easyer to asume your notions are corect and spew your opinion as fact

  • Awesome documentary, the UK deploy some of the most well trained and professional troops in the world. These guys kick ass.

  • battlefiel 3 lol :D

  • @TheKidNamedRoland A benefit is clear is money, money on drugs, on oil, on building and simply on white-washing. As the saying goes - for one the war it is death, for other the mother native. A world game and millions of people go in her chinks on an exchange, and the real figures where that is distant and they can not be seen.

  • @martynrobin121 It war and death of peaceful habitants are fully clear. In the days of a soviet union many peaceful habitants died similarly. And even you can think more than. Their death is inevitable. Or you, or you.

  • I agree with martynrobin or whatever his name is all western nations say the protect civillians but in reality all they want is to benefit themsleves

  • @shellymic Iraq?? Is that a joke? The Iraqis were with the Allies when they first invaded to defeat Saddam, But then a few weeks later the Civilians turned on the Allies when they realised they were just as bad as Saddams regime. 100's of thousands of Civilians died and countless thousands tortured and humiliated by the Allies!! Maybe millions homeless! The Iraqs were freedom fighters and fought to liberate there country! YOU NEED TO RESEARCH THE IRAQ WAR! Or the Iraq enquiry?? WAR WAS A LIE!!

  • @martynrobin121 30 million inhabitants of Iraq...for starters.

As for the rest of your comment, you're just a hater. I've wasted enough time on you.
