Baldwin Yacht Club was established in Old Saybrook, CT in 1946. Shortly after that, they elected to free themselves from having a physical clubhouse. They are a family friendly, "on the water" club. Known for their heavy social calendar, excellent event planning and low dues, they are active cruisers from Mystic to Buzzards Bay and out to Nantucket. Members hit Maine. Spring Dance, 3 day Commissioning at Mystic Seaport, Ski Trips, 4th of July at Shelter Island, Bastille Day in East Hampton, Fisher's Island Weekend, Two week cruise might take them to Cutty and Nantucket via Oak Bluffs or up Naragansett Bay to Bristol. Membership involves attending, by boat, 3 on the water events with in two years. Participation on the Social Committee is a must! Rafting is a big deal so get good fenders! Sand castle contests, pirate treasure hunts, tattoos, book club, hor deurve contests, dancing, and great friendships. Some sailors have moved to trawlers and some do have powerboats!
