What difference can you hear?. Recorded via a Rode NT2A mic into Logic, minimal reverb, just similar to a room. Otto Link 7 HR mouthpiece with a Alexander DC reed
yeah, as people usual say... you get what you pay for. The Selmer is clearly a professional sounding instrument. Mechanically superior. The Yana tenor was making a lot of noise in the mechanics.
Bouth sound good. The Yani perhaps more defined in the upper register ( but it could be your playing at the moment). Not being a professional I act this way: see what is more responding in the lower register, try the overtones, then try the upper register and - tome is important - what the action feels like in my hands. Your choice. In this little clip I prefer perhaps the Yani but both sound very good.
Forget the horn! I like the microphone; RODE makes awesome mics. As far as horns, it doesn't matter. There are subtle differences, but your basic tone remains the same no matter what horn you play. It's all about personal preference. I've played both Selmers and Yanagisawas for years. I prefer Selmer. You pick whatever you like.

I agree the Selmer is warmer. But what struck me the most is that you are getting significantly more metallic key clicks with the Yani.
