Timelapse shot on February 27, 2010 between 4:07pm and 6:09pm local time. One frame per minute. Movie compiled to play 5 frames per second.
This timelapse was shot on the Fraser River at Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada during the time at which the Tsunami from the 8.8 magnitude Earthquake in Chile would hit.
No noticeable effect from the Tsunami was observed. It was expected to be no more than 5 or 10cm high on the Fraser, the water conditions were good, but two boats go by producing considerable wakes that could have easily hidden the tsunami if it did have any observable effects.
Shot on a Canon T1i, F5.6, 55mm in Aperture priority mode. 15 megapixel downsampled to HD 1080p
Had the timing been different, I would have repeated the shooting of this timelapse on March 11th, 2011, to try and catch the Japan Tsunami. On the outside of Vancouver Island today's tsunami at 0.5m was 4x bigger than the Chile tsunami. Although it still probably wouldn't have been detectable at my location.
