The problem started with American cars when parts were outsourced from foreign companies based in other countries and its hard to control quality when your getting cut throat deals on parts. Made in U.S.A. used to mean something, we used to make THE best cars on earth and as you said that's quickly fading into history, as it seems the USA is as well.

Otacon237 is right though if a lowest level ground floor assembly man is making $25 or better to weld a door on a car then think what the upper level people are making. this union practice is good for employees in the short run but not in the long as it doesnt allow for flux within the company. this practice makes the comp produce shitier cars just to stay afloat and thats what the problem is.

No unions did not, what made the US the superpower that it is was WWII, after our victory on both fronts Europe was in ruins, japan not much better, and russia turned inwards towards self-repair and governence, leaving the US private sector to rebulid whats been destoryed that was a very profitable business that we are still living on today but we are going broke and the EU and China are catching up and in the next 30 years they'll be winning the race.
