Failure in Fairfield: Representative Boyd Brown scolds Fairfield School Board

South Carolina State House Representative Boyd Brown talks about the "unprofessional" behavior of the Fairfield County School Board.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) released a report on the numerous academic and financial failures of Fairfield County School District, days after the school board refused to meet them.

Among the list of transgressions were excessive spending on travel, wasteful spending on redundant bureaucratic positions, misuse of authority by board members, and exceptionally low test scores.
Rep. Boyd Brown took the district to task in a press release, calling their behavior "unprofessional" and "disgraceful." To date, other lawmakers and Superintendent Jim Rex ( a resident of the county) have not intervened on behalf of the children being cast aside by the district's behavior.
