12 Days ❄ Day 7 (Chapter 7)

[ Sunday December 19th 2004 ]

The mall was decorated to the hilt for Christmas and was filled with a jolly atmosphere. This tree was three stories tall and a large star was sitting at the top. Christmas shoppers were all in a buying frenzy, going from shop to shop in search for the latest bargains and deals.



"Right so we got presents for Maggie, Terry, Carl. That just leaves Nick" Leighton said as she and Selena walked out of Forever 21 with two large bags on each of their arms.



"Should I even get something for Nick?" Selena asked. "I mean, what if I get him something and he doesn't have anything for me. Or what if he gets me something and I don't get anything for him" she quickly spoke.



Leighton laughed, "oh Selena, of course you have to get him something. Not anything too bold though, like a watch or designer shoes. And you don't want to get him something that will give the wrong impression. Hmm" she tapped her chin. "You said he likes photography, so why don't you get him something along the lines with that" she suggested.



Selena's eyes dazzled in glee, "Leighton that's a great idea!" she squealed in delight. "We should head over to Tony's, he'll know exactly what I should get," she said excitedly.



They walked with their arms linked like best friends down to Tony's photography shop located on the second floor. They entered the store and were greeted by the smell of cartridge ink and fresh glossy paper and the sound of pages being printed off the large printer.



Tony was a man in his thirties; he had a crown of brown ringlets framing his head and shimmering emerald orbs. He looked up from cutting a piece of paper in half and smiled. "Hello Selena, Leighton, what can I do for you girls today?" he inquired.



"Hey Tony, we need a gift for someone, nothing too big or too small. Do you think you have something like that in your shop?" Leighton asked with hopeful eyes.



A smile swept across Tony's face, "I know exactly what you need, follow me". He led the girls to the back of the shop where most of the recent and new stock lay. "You're just in luck, a new batch arrived on Thursday". He went over to a box and took out the gift.



Selena smiled and took what happened to be a vintage Polaroid camera. "Its perfect" she said as she examined it. "I'll take it".
