are these done using acrylic paints?

im undecided on what to start painting with, obviously just thinking of starting this as a hobby.

Yes, they are acrylics. Acrylics dry very fast so they can be a little more difficult than oils to learn to paint with. However, on the positive side it is much easier to clean paint brushes and wash off the canvas if you don't like what you just painted (if you do it quickly). Either way have fun and good luck!
