Tabriz protests for Save Lake Urmia ( Sep. 03, 2011) تظاهرات تبریز

Thousands of Iranian Azerbaijanis were out in the streets of Tabriz and Urmia on September 3, 2011, to protest Iranian regime's mismanagement and discriminative policy. "Join us Turk brothers!", "Urmu lake is agonizing, Mejlis is signing death order for lake" they were chanting. Riot police and reportedly snypers were used against peaceful protesters.

Lake Urmia is a salt lake in South Azerbaijan (northwestern Iran), near Iran's border with Turkey. The lake is between the Iranian provinces of East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan, west of the southern portion of the similarly shaped Caspian Sea. It is the largest lake in the Middle East,[3] and the third largest salt water lake on earth, with a surface area of approximately 5,200 km² (2,000 mile²), 140 km (87 miles) length, 55 km (34 miles) width, and 16 m (52 ft) depth
