"All The Things You Are" was composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. In fact, it was Oscar's work with Kern and others that prompted Richard Rodgers to want to work with him after Rodgers could no longer work with Lorenz Hart. The song was originally written for the musical "Very Warm In May" in 1939, and has become a jazz standard recorded by many. But few have given it the treatment Ella has in this 1963 recording with Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra for her "Jerome Kern Songbook".
