http://www.ted.com At TEDxChange, Melinda Gates makes a provocative case for nonprofits taking a cue from corporations such as Coca-Cola, whose plugged-in, global network of marketers and distributors ensures that every remote village wants -- and can get -- a Coke. Why shouldn't this work for condoms, sanitation, vaccinations too?
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate. ok..... to stop starvation he basically has to feed people everyday. Even bill gates isn't that rich.
Vaccines are just one per person. I am not arguing for Gates but let's be realistic. Starvation is primarily due to income disparity. Unequal wealth is far beyong Gates' control. The UN,federal reserve, IMF, world bank, national governments are to blame for that.

I was listening until she brought up the bullshit about circumcision. This is a false statistic created by procircumcision advocates and it has not been properly studied, and it doesnt make sense on a logical bases

Why the heck would anyone circumcise himself, it's completely illogical. No benefits at all, many negatives.

Please... take your rant elsewhere. She used Coca Cola as an example because of how ubiquitous they are. No other brand has done what Coke has done as far as promotion goes.

Finland was poorer than Kenya and Cuba in 1955. Good democracy solves poverty, bad government creates poverty.

Here, Melinda, is a tiny fraction of what you can learn from nonprofits.

Melinda, you'd be a great propaganda minister. Just google 'coca cola evil' and watch what comes up for example. See the protests by farmers about Coke draining the water table in India, etc.? As for Gates, go to the latime.com slash gates to read about the DAMAGE the foundation is doing, for example, etc.

And here's some example info on the DAMAGE the Gates Foundation is doing...this Melinda Gates presentation is filled with how wonderful Coke is doing in promoting caffeinated sugar water at horrendous profit (yes, what a wonderful example...oh, you've convinced me that you know NOTHING about your subject. Do some REAL research about the Coke company, etc.). Hey, Melinda, noted you didn't mention how the water tables have been drained by the Coke company in many places in India, etc.

Oh, puleez...these self-promoting 'how wonderful I/we are' idiots. Let me know when Melinda Gates and Bill Gates have learned from nonprofits (which are ubiquitous, for the public good. CocaCola is simply interested in selfpromotion and profit). These greedy, selfish people promoting horrendously overpriced caffeinated sugar water. Appalling.
