This video doesn't show how I took the plastic socket cover out of the panel, but it does show that you MUST put the plastic socket cover into the panel BEFORE inserting the silver piece once you have it out.
TO REMOVE THE SOCKET COVER (which SEEMS to be near impossible), you have to bend the plastic tabs which I point to at the beginning of the video away from the silver piece as these are holding it in place through those square holes seen in the silver piece. Without removing this silver piece before attempting to remove the plastic socket cover through the front side can/will result in damaging the panel...and frustration! Trust me :)
Once you bend the tabs from your broken socket cover, the silver piece slides out through the front, then you can gently press the tabs on the top and bottom (backside) and the broken cover will come right out. THEN...you can follow the video to put it back ;)
Sorry, I should have taped from the beginning but I was trying to figure out how to get the darn thing out of the panel without breaking it. I ordered this part online for about $10.
@rogueguineapig If you haven't found your answer yet, see if my other video helps. This is the name: 2001 Honda Civic EX center panel removal - change climate control panel - replace bulbs

Nice vid! My question is, how do you get to it in the first place? Mine went bad and I need to get the old one out..I'm not even sure how to get to it.
