Marisa Vertullo Brandão, better known musically as Marisa Gata Mansa (Born in Rio de Janeiro, 27th of April 1933 — Deceased 10th of January 2003) began singing jazz and orchestral crooners in the early fifties, until a connection to Dolores Duran and a love affair with João Gilberto led her to Bossa Nova.
In 1953 Marisa records her first 78, by the title of "Você Esteve com Meu Bem", a song co-written with João Gilberto and Russo do Pandeiro. By the early sixties she was performing in theaters and clubs from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo, and back again.
After a period of roughly 20 years without any recordings since 1982 Marisa released her 1997 CD ''Encontro com Antônio Maria'', as recorded with orchestra and paying homage to her friend Dolores Duran on tour.
Among her greatest hits are ''Viagem'' (João de Aquino/ P.C. Pinheiro), "Leva-me Contigo" (Dolores Duran), "Tudo Acabado" (J. Piedade/ Oswaldo Martins), "Leopardo" (Vital Lima) and "Caçador de Mim" (Luiz Carlos Sá/ Sérgio Magrão)...
The following track comes from a French pressing of her fourth LP, simply titled Simplemente, as released in 1960.
